Free Father's Day Printable
Use the link or click on the image and then save to your computer. We just used washable stamp pads to make hand print leaves. But paint or tracing would also work. Get creative and happy Father's Day!

Dustin's Challenge - Kid style!

So My kids wanted to do Dustin's challenge too! They came up with the idea of using "sprinkles" (embossing powder) because it is "shiny". They also came up with the idea of fireworks because in Alaska, you can't do fireworks in the summer. You will burn everything down and you can't see them anyway because it is always sunny. However, during the winter, we break the fireworks out. Tonight they saw a huge firework display for Halloween. They also had a blast coloring Dustin's images. They used water color pencils and markers. My kids are pro crafters...LOL.
Two Birds ... One Stone

So I took a peek at the current challenge over on Dustin's page.
And it happened to be shiny.
Well I have been sitting on this shiny mirrored vinyl forever!
So anyway... I wanted to make the kids a dry erase "where we're going" board.
So each day they can see where we will be going or if we have any errands to run.
Then they can get themselves ready appropriately.
So needless to say... I created a "shiny" project for Dustin's challenge.
I let the kids pick out their favorite Dustin image and printed it out. Cut it down with some paper to fit behind the frame. Used my cricut to cut the shiny vinyl with their favorite saying from "Phineas and Ferb". Then hung it with a dry erase marker!
Ta-Da!!

Little Prayer Book
I worked on this little book of prayers today. Madison loves it! I wanted an easy reference for her. She asks me constantly about prayers and such, which I don't mind, but find it might be easier for her if she doesn't get my distracted response. It has all the basics she has been wanting to learn. It also contains blank pages in the back, so we can add to her book as her knowledge grows.
On the first page we did the morning prayer, prayer before meals, and the evening prayer.
and the Apostles' Creed.
Page tree contains a "How to" say the rosary.
I used a lot of references she already knew to help explain the steps.
Page four and five continue with the other prayers in the rosary like Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be, and O My Jesus. The mysteries are also stated.
These pages in brown are her "confession" pages. With instructions for preparing for and receiving the sacrament of reconciliation. I included a list to help her examine her conscience. Of course it is very simple and geared for a 7 year old. Questions include: Have I shown obedience? Do I participate in Mass and keep Sunday holy? Have I prayed? Have I been happy for others when they have things they want or need?
These last two pages contain blank space for her to write her own notes or prayers. And of course we left several blank pages at the end of the book to add more later. For now, this covers all the basics she has been questioning about or they have been going over in CCD.

Bedtime prayer framed...

I colored one of Dustin's images with water color pencils, blending with a brush and blending medium. I used embossing powders to make the clouds, halo, and wings sparkle a little. Added a few red bows, white/clear gems, and blue papers so that this finished project will look cute next to the eldest child's bed (whos room is now done in red, white, and blue). To the right of Dustin's image, I printed a copy of her bedtime prayer. Put it in a frame and tada! She loves it!!

Teacher Cards

These are the cards for the kids teachers. Madison will bake cookies for her teacher tomorrow and Christian wants to give his teacher a Hershey bar.
There is a little poem inside...
Thank you for teaching me my lessons,
And helping me to grow,
This card is just for you,
You’re the best teacher I know!

Christian's Birthday stuff...
Almost all of the boy capes are done now... I need to finish the girl capes still.
All my plans are the same except for a few changes I made to the invites and certificates. I redid the invites and certificates to include comic book font. We also decided that he will have Dirt for his cake instead of a traditional cake. Like pudding, oreo, and gummy worm stuff ... not real Dirt. We will put it in bright colored buckets and serve it with shovels.
Here are the changes I made...
I decided I liked the comic book font and when it came to his invites when I printed them they looked really small, so I changed the info at the bottom to be larger and more legible.
These are a 'proto-type' for Christian's birthday. I hate goody bags and he is to young for writing his own thank you notes so these will serve as both. I used one of Dustin Pikes images (the super dragon) on the front.

What it looks like before printed. I found these work really well if I print them 5x7.

Here are the changes I made...

Superhero party...
So I'm getting ready for Christian's Superhero party next month. My big job is getting all the capes put together for all the little ones 6 and under who are attending. The older ones can play football or tennis. The birthday is themed around Superhero Training. The kids will receive their capes when they receive their invitations.
My party plan: When kids arrive at the party they will make superhero masks. We will give kids about 30min to make their masks and arrive and then we will start the training. Training includes a over & under relay, web blasting, and pass the kryptonite. I will have certificates printed for the kids and they will have a little "graduation" ceremony after the training. We will then sing happy birthday and present Christian with his cake and everyone can eat. I'm praying the weather will be nice enough for us to keep the party outside and Todd can grill.
Here are some "previews" of the capes and invitations.

Oh wow... a long one...

Story time last Thursday was about dog mushing. The kids had a lot of fun meeting a dog and checking out the sled.

We participated in a scavenger hunt Friday and one of the things we needed was a Halloween greeting card... so I whipped this one up real fast. We had a lot of fun though running around ... I think the greatest was the pictures... We had to wear wigs and take a picture with smokey the bear, play twister in the bowling alley, wear diving fins at the playground... and so much more.

Madison is getting reading glasses. Christian thinks he needs them too... I couldn't help but giggle to myself when he tried on a pair. He looks so much like his daddy...lol
